Kubuntu Hoary: CDROM is noisy when inserted and untidy when ejected :)
How does one ask for the CDROM drive to spin down when not in use? hdparm -S
has no effect on /dev/hdc and gamin (and similar) isn't involved as far as I
can tell from lsof. I'm running 2.6.10-5-686.
