I'm using 2.4.17-mjc1 and get the odd weird falling-over. It's normally
when someone who isn't a Linux user is around, which makes me worry...
they always laugh as well, but I content myself by laughing at them (far
more often) when their Windows boxes die. Although to be honest, the mjc
series is hardly the most stable one in the world, since it has the
kernel pre-empt patch and a big pile of other experimental stuff in it.
Stops almost all my music skips though - although why it should skip at
all I have no idea. Basically, my 2.4 systems were fine from 2.4.0-test
through about 2.4.5 or so, then I started noticing the odd problem
cropping up, then the whole thing went to pot and I just stayed on
2.4.13 for ages. I'd get 2.4.18 but it's not got the pre-empt stuff in
it of course so I'm waiting until I can be bothered to work out what
source tree the latest mjc patches are made against.
For me though, this 2.4 system is still a great deal more stable than
Windows.
