Yeah but as I said I never wanted to host sites on this box and as it's
150 miles away bit hard to reach the CD drive :) and I never did the
install etc anyway

Quite happy to do rm on all the files and dir's if i know that will sort
the problem and that i am doing the right ones.

I know it's all a bit vague but as I did not do the install and have
never installed Apache/PHP from the tarballs I can only say what I have
been told.
Though I did play about with the PHP package and it was a stub.lo that
kicked out the error, deleted it and it run though fine and it created a
new one :)
I will have a word with my mate and find out more about the problem, he
just keeps telling me it's f***ed and there is nothing he can do but
delete and try again.
