A little like the original 'compromises' which happened over RIP in the
first place, IIRC.

Stephen Byers: trying to make himself even more 'popular'
Peter Mandelson: trying to make himself even more 'popular'
Tony Blair: trying to make himself even more 'popular'
Alastair Campbell: trying to get rid of half the cabinet on the QT while
everyone gets annoyed with the above ;-)

Shame Mo Mowlam isn't an MP round here. I reckon she might enjoy rattling
a few sabres over this one, seeing as they've completely shot her down
from any hope of being a major Cabinet player any time soon. But we
digress...

I'm still wondering why the Fire Services need access to my personal
communication records. Apparently the health services and Food Standards
Agency would use these things (for example) to track incidences of food
poisoning, which has to be one of the single most tenuous attempts at
getting the public to accept a massive dent in their right to privacy I've
ever heard.

The longer this kicks around, the more angry I'm going to get.
