Depending on financial jiggery pokery (sp?) I hope to pick up an
700MHz iBook with wireless, CDRW/DVD Combo, etc. in the next couple of
weeks - now that's going to be a sweet Debian platform. Apparently the
only thing that won't work for me is the "WinModem" stlye software
assisted modem which I do not need anyway although the lack of a serial
port make using a mobile with built in modem harder while on the go.
The plan is to cast aside my dislike for initrd and have a root aes
encrypted volume group with ext3 on it - should be fun setting that up.
A number of us have wireless nodes in and around Dunkirk now too for
laptops - anyone else in the Dunkirk region wanna join a wireless VLAN?
Now, if someone happens to know a very cheap supplier of Apple kit so I
can save on the 1400GBP list price (cheapest so far is 1200ish) then I'd
be mucho appreciative and forthcoming with a pint, and so forth.
Jon.
P.S. To the chap I'm getting an Ultra 10 from - will email soon about it.
Back in Nottingham in a couple of weeks so easier to sort things then...
