To pass on some info, from thread in Leicester list (original post by Clive
Jones). It may be very of great interest to some of you with Athlon CPU.

www.gentoo.org, which broke this news, now seems well and truly a victim of
the /. effect.
http://linuxtoday.com/news_story.php3?ltsn=2002-01-21-001-20-NW-KN has copied
some of the details in time.
Suggests 2.2 kernels, and 2.4 ones not optimised for Pentium or higher, will
not be affected. Similarly it's not a problem if you don't have an AGP
graphics card.
This issue merely causes lockups for Athlon CPU with an AGP graphics card.
The extended paging is not used by the linux VM, so it shouldn't cause data
corrupton directly.
