Hello folks,

Yes it was I who was the fourth man but Mike and Paul have beaten me to it.
Thanks for getting the ball rolling on this Mike.

A few points all to be qualified with a big IMHO (and referring to a mix of
posts in and out of this thread):

1. Paul's site is a good start. Simple, clean and with room for expansion.
Rather than work on something different I'll work on the contents which reads
like something written at 3 in the morning ;)

Some people have suggested a more complex (whistles and bells) web site (eg.
using PHP/MySQL). This may be the future but at the moment we are trying to
build the group. We have had few 'formal' meetings and eight months of
regular socials. At this moment the group has little with which to sell
itself to the outside world. Our aim is to start changing that with the
series of three meetings over October to December. One bad aspect of the
current web site is it gives the impression of a dead group (last meeting
November 2001, rather than August 2002). Any fluff like polls etc which gave
the impression the group was insignificant (small, inactive etc) would be bad
publicity.

2. We still need a venue for the upcoming meetings.

3. We need a topic for the November meeting and suggestions for future
meetings (panel discussions, presentation topics, fancy dress themes,
flamewars ...)

4. !LUG or fooLUG
Both !LUG
and NotLUG

As for the unconverted, stuff them. We are not and should not be slaves to
the unconverted. We are free (in the sense of free speech, buy one get one
free etc) and perfectly capable of aiming suitable material at our different
audiencies. Could we add a !LUG logo on Robin Tux's clothes ?

5. September meeting (Wednesday 4th).
This will happen but, there was such a poor turn out for the August meeting we
thought we would hold it in Beeston which is more convenient for some of us.
The meeting will be both social, planning and work towards the October meeting
(advertising anyone ?).

Have fun,
Duncan
