I agree you know, I do. Honest. Its just that .. these kinds of slightly
fatty sites say 'We made an effort to be modern' even if they are often a
bit redundant.
I mean everyone, even me, has nightmares about those massive slobbering PHP
Nuke sites with endless reams of crap that take 5 minutes to load on a
cable modem. I hate them too. Categorically. But you can do lightweight
fluff - and oh, isnt it sexy? :))

I dunno .. I just see so many LUG sites where they've taken a tux, slapped
in on a white background, stuck in some text and you just think 'ok, so
they've gone straight to the point, but what does this say about these
people? They're probably puritans, bit dull, not very "with it"' etc. Even
if thats totally, completely unfounded; who wants to be classed
superficially with the other 500, 000, 000 LUGS out there?.

Also you know, I think people do like a bit of fluff these days. Something
to hold on too, nice and tangible. I especially like the idea of a front
end news script where you can place *articles* not just banter from the
mailing lists. People can actually set about being creative and get into
the whole 'contribution' end of things. Stuff like a well orderd downloads
section, rated weblinks/partner sites, banners and things are nice too. You
cant do that on a mailing list alone, siree!

Anyway, I've had more than 2 pence worth. So I shall shut up and look
forward to the end product. :))

Gav.
