Thanks for the help on this topic; it was actually a lot easier than I
thought as once I realised the modem would only work with an ethernet
card not USB SuSE 7.3 detected and configured through YaST and works perfectly.

Its only a bind that I had to use Windows to get it set up. Obviously ntl are way behind in this area.
