In response to what you said about lab sessions:

They _aren't_ any help! Not for anyone. I don't go either but this wasn't my point. They are presented as support for practical modules with coursework and this is just wrong, you get a few people to help you debug your program if you can be bothered to go. This is not the support we need. I'm not saying I need support and clearly you don't think you need any. However I want to be a good developer and the most beneficial help I think would be feedback and perhaps someone actually taking an interest in you. That is why I was criticising labs, not because I can't debug my own code! I also think they cultivate the wrong habits in people who do use and rely on them, this is bad, and they are also a smokescreen to mask a henous lack of resources.

Also I thought we were talking about programming courses here?

What has coursework for Object orientated design and project management/system design got to do with learning learning a new language?
