I guess it depends on how much sharing goes on. NTL seem to support
people setting up routers to serve home LANs. Indeed, I know of many
people that do this.
As for wiring up a flat of students... hur hur hur... yes. Been there,
done that. I was at uni in Aberystwyth in a private hall of residence,
and there were 11 (eleven) of us sharing an NTL World dialup at 56k,
using a slackware box to do the routing. That was err... very slow fun.
Kept us with email and irc most of the time though. NTL never asked
why the modem was up for up to 20 hours per day... I was most surprised.
I'll let you work out how cheap it was between 11 of us :-)
Wasn't my dialup account I hasten to add.
