What you actually mean is that Linux isn't supported by NTL. I had a
barney with them recently over their dns servers not responding, they
tried to shove the blame on linux, but guess what, the next morning,
everything worked fine again, and has done since.
NTL's 128 cable will indeed work with linux, I specifically asked them
if there was some internal policy to get rid of non-microsoft OS's, and
they said 'definately not' funny how the new modem package can only be
configured with the disk and you must be using the computer that you are
gonna use && it must be microsoft - hmmmmm . Well if you got the details
from the winders installation, then the cable modem howto should work fine.
I on the other hand have blatantly told them that I will NOT use a
windows OS, even for the sign-up, as it is forcing people to use M$. So
after a lengthy battle and ringing loads of departments, I finally got
them to agree to send me a direct debit mandate and they said they would
help with any details i need.
This just goes to show that people should not put up with 'sorry, we
don't support Linux'
Try not to even say linux when you ring them ;)
