Hi, this is resubmitted a I don't think you all got it. It was sent before my other recent submission. All the best for the Linux Eve.
I've not been in touch for a while on account of having moved to Penzance!
I'm still on the list as it's interesting "listening in on the
conversations". In repy to Godfrey's request for suggestions and some other
pints raised about the evening it seems to me to be important that someone
running a business has an answer to the question "what about the training?"
It was bad enough when M$ came out with Win 95. The other issue was about
the students. Strapped for cash and often more open to "new ideas" they
could have some demos during daylight on the various campuses in public
areas.
Graeme mentioned about Loughborough Uni. I was a research assistant in Elec
Eng '89-'93 when only a few used Windows. We had to know basic Unix to
converse with the mainframe and I had a DOS machine connected via Novell to
the outside world inc said HP Unix machine. I also had a BBC and my Z88 on
the desk. The latter I took home to connect to my PCW! A nice old guy in the
Comp Dept was well up on PCW's and gave me help in connecting it up. Those
were the days!!!!
