Linux is used on some servers inside the Uni - the web caches are the
only ones I'm certain about. In the CS department main lab we have three
Redhat 7.1 boxen meant as X servers for the Solaris machines.
It is possible to use Linux on a project machine (if you request it
early enough).
These efforts by the CS department are a step forward but the great
majority of students don't come in to contact with Linux unless they
choose to.
