Hey,
There is life in the LUG, then.
Thanks for all comments and offers of support. I would say that the idea I
have goes on the lines of showing a simple work environment with email/word
proc/calendar/presentation and a server running apache/mail/database;
for managers, I would like to have some network update/fileshare demo.
What I envisage the program being is -
welcome, short presentation on origins of linux/open source and where we are
now (support availability must be mentioned) then time for hands on/demo of
the various offerings.
I like the idea of 'give em what they want' so will make some enquiries
following the suggestions in the list. Any other suggestions as to what will
be wanted and more especially what the linux alternatives are will be welcome.
Migration paths - anyone care to write some outline suggestions?
Suggested dates (I have not booked anywhere yet, but want to get it done this
week) are Tuesdays or Thursdays ('cos thats when I can get a car to shift the
gear!) in mid November - 13, 15, 20 or 22. Any preferences?
Setup at 6pm, open meeting at 6.30 til 9, then clear away by 9.30
Greetings,
Godfrey
