Hmmm. I've been running 2.4.5 on my machine at home for as long as it's been
available* (I really wanted to muck about with SNAT and DNAT in iptables to
masq my other machines behind it) and it's been rock-solid ever since. Apart
from some spurious crashes out of X and some problems compiling Exim, which
turned out to be a duff RAM stick.
*Now all I have to hope for is that BT and Easynet, between them, can keep
their bloody DSL network running reliably; it seems to have fallen over. Again.
I downloaded 2.4.14 last night with the express intention of setting it off to
compile while I'm sitting at work; oh well. Have to wait for this evening then
to look forward to Fun With 802.1q :)
