Interesting yes, I've been playing with firewire at work (anyone got a
UMAX scanner working? :P), but that hadn't occured to me :)

Simon for the link but I already knew of the sourceforge project - kind of
strange how something this obviously suited to what I want to do slipped
my mind :P) and er, mess around. I wonder if it's easy to do loopback
literally by running a cable from one card back to itself for testing...
