Rich perhaps you can check your entry, maybe you've made a slip somewhere?

So, Rich can check the versions he has, by

rpm -qi ghostscript
rpm -qi gimp-print

Mandrake 7.1 is somewhat more up to date than RH 6.1 (I found quite a few
nasty bugs in that and found 6.2 a more solid platform), so hopefully Rich
won't need to update those packages. The other possible timesaver is to
check whether Mandrake have made updated RPMs available.

From http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=517810 it looks
like it should work if he uses stp like you did and tells gimp-print that
it's an Epson Stylus Color 760 (if 680 and 777 aren't known to it). I was
going to buy this exact model, but the 'mostly' works and speculation on
equivalent US model numbering put me off in the end.
