[nottingham] Antitrust

Hello,

I went to see the film Antitrust this evening with a bunch of others. It
was better than "hackers" but that's not saying a lot.

Mostly I enjoyed the film for its blatant attacks on a certain Bill
Gates and a little company he runs which has a habit for doing
questionable things. If you fancy a laugh (both *at* the lameness of
parts of the film and also at bits of the humour) then go see this. Some
of the lines in it are so wrong they would make great taglines.

Without "spoiling" it, I would suggest the main issues are the lack of
plot, total lack of a decent intro (the intro actually makes you think
the film will be worse than it is), uninteresting ending and the fact
that they have clearly been brainwashed by the ESR camp into "Open
Source is the one true way" with no mention of Free Software.

For those who don't know (and you will have been in the mountains or
something if this is you :P), it's an "Open Source is cool" type movie
where the good guy GNOME hackers win over the evil Nurv[0] Microsoft
types. I particularly like the obvious references to the famous "Bill
Gates tantrums" and the suggestion that the Gates character would kill
people for source code...

If you are a fellow "irrational" Microsoft hater you will like this film
regardless of its utter stupidity.
