My thoughts on this would be to look at the way that gllug/lonix do
arrangements.

Lonix have pretty much fixed regular monthly social meets, which means
that Linuxers get to know each other and can discuss problems in a
relaxed atmosphere.

On the other hand gllug have around 3 month set-piece meetings with kit,
talks etc

May be worth duplicating something like this
