I've had a dig on google and turned up a little, it seems (if I've got the
right one anyway) that it's a proprietary thing for making a network by
daisy chaining machines together, using these cards.

I've seen something similar, I did have a couple of 8 bit ISA cards that
worked just this way but they went out in the big clearout of 1998 :)
